Two Dead After Two-Vehicle Accident In Morgan County

MORGAN COUNTY-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a two-vehicle accident near Lacey Springs that has taken the lives of two people:

“A two-vehicle crash at approximately 5:35 p.m Friday, April 2, has claimed the lives of two people.

 William Carson Parker, 20, of Decatur was fatally injured when the 2011 Kia Sportage he was driving traveled into the opposite lane of travel and collided with a 2018 Toyota RAV4.  Parker, who was not using his seat belt, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Cecelia Springer Benefield, 63, of Athens, who was a passenger in the Toyota, was also fatally injured. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Toyota was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The crash occurred on Alabama 36 near Dry Creek Cove Road, approximately two miles west of Lacey Springs. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
