Jack Sampson Day Sr., 81, of Kincaid, Illinois, died Saturday, March 27, 2021, in Summertown, TN. He was born in Jellico, Tennessee on May 22, 1939, to the late Kerney Day and Iva Huddleston Day

Jack was a graduate of Kincaid Illinois public schools, class of 1955. He retired from Illinois Business Enterprise for the Blind, in Bloomington, IL., and was a member of, Bloomington’s Elk Lodge 281. Some of our fondest memories of Jack were of him sitting at the kitchen table, strumming his Gibson guitar, singing his favorite Classic Country Music.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Bobby Day, Mahala Day Hall, Kathleen Day Siler, Imogene Day Dowdell, Mildred Day White, and Danny Day; one daughter, Penny Kay Day; and two great-grandchildren.

Jack is survived by one sister, Lucille Day Sullivan (Cornelius) of Rochester, IL; his children, Jack S. Day Jr. (Kelley) of Springhill, FL, Marsha Day Hobgood (Jerry) of Summertown, TN, Julie Day Twiford (Kevin) of Manteo, NC, Ronda Day Ostermeier (Fred) of Hardinsburg, IN, and Douglas Day (Terry) of Bremerton, WA; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Jack was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He spent his final years in Summertown, TN.

Jack’s final rest will be in Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee, Illinois on May 22, 2021 with a celebration of life to follow.
