Athens Police Report Two Individuals Struck By Train

ATHENS-On Monday afternoon Athens Police chief Floyd Johnson released a statement concerning an accident where two individuals were hit by a train:

“This afternoon Monday, March 29 at approximately 1:30 a northbound train hit 2 people walking north on the railroad tracks just south of the McClellan Street crossing.

The train crew did everything they could to warn the people to get off the tracks before being hit. One person has been identified as Lakerris Petty 37 of Athens.

As of this time positive identification on the second person has not been determined. This incident remains under investigation.”
