Carmon Pollock HartA strong Christian, a God fearing woman with strong belief of prayer in Jesus name, these are qualities that Mrs. Carmon Pollock Hart possessed and today she received her heavenly reward. Mrs. Hart, age 97, passed away early Saturday morning, March 27th, 2021 at her home where she wanted to be surrounded by her loving family who have been by her side for countless days. Mrs. Carmon is the last survivor of nine children to the late George Washington and Ida Mae Wallace Pollock.

Mrs. Hart is a forty-seven year widow of William Gilbert “Gib” Hart, was born July 9, 1923 and lived her early life as that of a sharecropper, part of a large family, cooking all meals, making all their clothes and everything that made up that style of life. Eventually she joined the workforce at Brown Shoe Company for a short time before becoming a homemaker during most of her married life but after the untimely death of her beloved husband (Gib) in 1977 she briefly worked at the former, Lexington Motor Inn. An interesting fact, Mrs. Hart didn’t learn to drive a car until her husband’s death which she needed badly in order to enjoy her new favorite hobby, which was searching for bargains. She did this by becoming a regular shopper at all the local yard sales, flea markets and accumulated a variety of things but always bought at a bargain price! When she wasn’t on the road searching for a great buy, she would be at her home listening to Swap Shop on our local radio station, still, buying and selling. She would sit by her front door in her beloved chair watching the traffic or reading her Bible, but if she was watching television, her favorite show was always Antique Roadshow comparing her treasures to others’ on tv. Another way Mrs. Carmon found herself a bargain was at a food buffet, her favorite way to enjoy a meal. She always felt like she got her monies worth and a winner leaving the restaurant!

Mrs. Hart was blessed with a very close family and they called her, “the most loved person in the world” and “beautiful, inside and out”. Surviving are her three daughters: Judy Jones of Milan, Beverly Wood of Atlanta, Vickie (Jim) Brady of Jackson and her son, Danny (Patsy) Hart of Ft Walton Beach, FL; five grandchildren: Stacy and Tracy (Beth) Hart, Tisha (John) Gay, Angie (Sergio) Acosta and Jacob Brady; eleven great grandchildren: Josh, Jeffrey, Christopher, Megan, Lauren, Courtney, Tyler, Allie, Noah, Andrea & Andrew, and fourteen great great grandchildren. A host of nieces and nephews; beloved caretaker and best friend Kay Wilson; best friends Gail, Cara-Fay, Brenda, Joyce and countless others she loved. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Carmen was preceded in death by her four brothers: Hulon, James, Harold and Dennis and her sisters: Elner, Delta Mae, Dorothy and Mary Ella. What an amazing legacy she has left, we will love her forever.

Visitation with the Hart family will begin on Tuesday, March 30 from 3 – 9 PM and Wednesday from 10 am until service time at the First Pentecostal Church of Lexington where she was the oldest member. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday at the church with Bro. David Beecham and Bro. Bobby Beecham officiating with burial to follow at Brown’s Pentecostal Church cemetery.
