William Floyd Kimbrell passed away March 25, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family at 79 years of age. He was born March 5, 1942 to Fred and Sissie Kimbrell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Travis (Winnie), Pate (Christine), Billy (Mildred), Ervin (Doris), Dick (Eunice), Ernest (Virgie), and Bobby Kimbrell; sisters, Erline (Paul) and Glendon (John); sister-in-law, Gail Kendrick; mother-in-law, Mary Lee Kilgore, and father-in-law, Carl Kilgore. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Kimbrell; his son, Mitch Kimbrell and daughter-in-law, Carla; two granddaughters, Ryan and Alex Kimbrell; brother, John Kimbrell (Carolyn); brother-in-law, Dennis Kendrick (Brenda); sister-in-law, Glenda Kimbrell; and a host of nieces and nephews. Floyd served in the United States Army from 1965-1967 and was a Vietnam War Veteran. He retired as a repair technician from the Northwest Alabama Vendors. He was a huge Alabama fan and was often seen as part of the “breakfast crowd” at Jack’s. Floyd was a child of God, Deacon at Hunter’s Chapel Church and was happiest when he was with his family. He loved being a “jokester”, telling stories, growing tomatoes in his garden, tinkering with tools in his shop, and fixing things that weren’t really broken. He could talk to anyone about anything and could always put a smile on your face. He will be greatly missed, but will continue to live on through Christ and through his family while they tell stories and remember the unforgettable times they had with him A special thanks to Austin Guidry, our Hunter’s Chapel Church family, the B-Battalion prayer group, and all of our friends and family for the help, thoughts and prayers. Visitation will be held Monday, March 29, 2021, from 1 until 2 p.m. at Hunters Chapel with Kilgore-Green Funeral Home directing. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., with burial at Hunters Chapel Cemetery. Darrin Reynolds will officiate.
