Ronald (Ron) Edward Tepool

Ronald (Ron) Edward Tepool passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 21. He was born January 13, 1940 to Norbert & Alta Tepool in Evansville, IN.

Ron married his high school sweetheart, Sarah Marie (Townsend) Tepool, on November 17, 1962. They met on 8th grade day and shared 58 years together.

Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah, and his parents, Norbert & Alta Tepool. Ron is survived by his four children: Stacey Wall (Gus), Eric Tepool (Tammy), Michael Tepool (Melissa), and Trisha Carter (Michael); Ten grandchildren: Kristen Townsley (Andrew), Trent Tepool, Caitlyn McDonald (Lloyd), Matthew Wall (Georgianna), Lauren Butler (Kevin), Sarah Reagan Hughes (Austin), Morgan Wall, Claire Carter, Anna Tepool, and Josh Carter; Five great-grandchildren: Hudson, Harrison, Luke and Audrey Townsley, & Wilkerson McDonald; Four Siblings: Barbara Wechter (Ron), Terri Schaefer (Barry), Sue Stillson (Pat), and Vicky Strickland (Tim).

Ron graduated from Mater Dei High School in 1958. He attended the University of Evansville where he played football and majored in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduation, he moved to Huntsville, AL and accepted a job with NASA at the Marshall Space Flight Center. He had various propulsion roles on the Apollo and Space Shuttle programs. Ron retired after 50 years and enjoyed consulting with QuantiTech until January 2021. He loved people and never met a stranger. Ron enjoyed playing golf, Words With Friends, and facetiming with his grandkids. He was known for his BBQ ribs, caramel popcorn, and homemade cookies. Ron was a great husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be Friday, March 26 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Huntsville, Alabama with Visitation at 10:30 and a Funeral Mass at 11:30, officiated by Reverend Jonathan Howell.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Spirit Regional Catholic School of your favorite charity.
