John Gerald King

SHEFFIELD-The Sheffield Police Department issued a statement concerning a man who was rescued from a retention pond on Thursday, March 18:

“Officers received a call of a man struggling to save his daughter in a fenced retention pond near Oakwood Boulevard. Officers and Firemen entered the water in an attempt to save both as they noticed a male later identified as John Gerald King, 37 years old struggling to keep his head above water. He was claiming his daughter was underwater. After King was extracted, attempts were made to locate a child, including using sonar imaging and a K9. It was later determined his daughter was safe in a nearby city. King is in custody on multiple charges including reckless endangerment for putting first responders in grave danger.
**We would also like to give a special thanks to Mr. Joshua Grigsby for leaping into action by putting his life in danger and grabbing King in the water. Thank you, sir!**”
