Some Schools Will Be Closed On Wednesday Due To Chance Of Severe Weather

TENNESSEE VALLEY-Due to the threat of severe weather in the area some schools will close or delay starts for Wednesday, March 17:

Thunderstorms, some of which may be severe, will increase in coverage from southwest to northeast Wednesday morning along and behind a warm front. Scattered severe thunderstorms will be possible
throughout the day, followed by a fairly widespread coverage of severe storms Wednesday evening through early Thursday morning.

Conditions will be highly favorable for severe thunderstorms for an extended period, beginning with the passage of the warm front early Wednesday morning and continuing until the passage of the cold front
early Thursday morning. Large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes will be possible, along with locally heavy rainfall and flooding.

Athens Bible School – Closed Wednesday

Athens City Schools – Virtual learning

Bethlehem Christian Academy in Hazel Green – Closed Wednesday

Blount County Schools – Virtual learning Wednesday; 2-hour delay Thursday

Boaz City-Closed Wednesday

Calhoun-Decatur Campus and Huntsville Campus All students report virtually

Colbert County Schools – Closed

Cornerstone Christian Academy – Closed

Cullman County Schools – report virtually

Decatur City Schools – Virtual learning

Decatur Heritage Christian –  Academy Closed

DeKalb County Schools – Closed

Ekklesia Child Development Center And Preschool in Sheffield – Closed Wednesday

Fort Payne City Schools – Closed

Franklin County (AL) Schools – Closed

Gadsden State Community College – Closing Early at 12:00PM Wednesday

Snead State Community College Closing at 2 p.m.

Tuscumbia City Schools – Closed

Valley Fellowship Christian Academy – Closed Wednesday

Other Closings:

Athens-Limestone COVID-19 vaccine clinic will be closed Wednesday. All appointments will be carried over to Thursday, March 18, at the same time.

Colbert County Health Department (vaccine appointments will be rescheduled).

DeKalb County Non-Essential Offices – Closed

Huntsville Hospital’s Community Vaccination Clinic  – Closing Early at 12:00PM Wednesday
