Bess Elaine Smith
MAY 30, 1929 – MARCH 11, 2021

“B”was a wonderful lady who began her life in the small town of Pierce City, MO. She grew up and married Johnie W. Smith, a Navy man. They moved to New Orleans, LA and gave birth to Karen. The family then moved to Windsor, MO where she gave birth to Candy and Susan.

Johnie’s employment then took them to Utah, followed by a move to Huntsville, Al where she remained.

Bess retired from UAH after 25 years as the Secretary for the Music Department.

Loved by all who met her, she enjoyed gardening, reading and knitting in her retirement. She continued to be the strong, lovely, caring and compassionate woman she was.

Bess was preceded in death by her husband, Johnie W. Smith. She is survived by daughters, Karen Smith Phillips, Candy Smith Townley (Art), Susan Smith Sulkowski (Max); 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

The family would like to recognize the exceptional care given to her by Hospice of North Ala.

She will be laid to rest at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
