James Buford Tennison, of Athens, AL passed away on Monday, March 1, 2021, at his residence. James was born September 27, 1928 to Cullen Tennison and Melvine Carter Tennison
Mr. Tennison is preceded in death by his parents; wife Marjorie Tennison; and brother Melvin “Bub” Tennison

Mr. Tennison is survived by his sister Joyce Ann McGuire; nieces Gwendolyn Christopher, Cathy Wales (Ronnie), and Sherry Towe; nephews Larry Christopher, Stewart Christopher, Steven Ezell (Angela) and Karen Ezell, Grant Ezell, Michael Griffin, and Ricky Griffin; cousin Mary Tennison Ezell; numerous great nieces and nephews; and beloved companion Bandy.

Mr. Tennison served in the US Army during the Korean war. Mr. Tennison fought in the battle of “Old Baldy”, earning the Korean service medal, two bronze stars and the Army of Occupation medal in Japan. Mr. Tennison was a master mechanic and enjoyed working on and restoring old cars. He was also a master woodworker. Mr. Tennison was a member of the American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Pallbearers will be Will Ezell, Jason Ezell, Stephen Ezell, Travis Ezell, Ronnie Wales and Landon Ezell. Honorary pallbearers will be Steven Ezell, Larry Christopher, Stewart Christopher, Ricky Griffin, Michael Griffin, Grant Ezell and Adam Ezell

The family will be receiving friends at McConnell Funeral Home on Thursday, March 4th from 12pm to 2:45pm, with a graveside service and burial to follow at Roselawn Cemetary.
