Elmer James “E.J.” Mock

Mr. Elmer James “E.J.” Mock, age 79, husband of Mary Cay Mock, and a resident of Nashville, Tennessee went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at his residence with his loving wife by his side.

 

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia. A private graveside service will be held at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Born on April 8, 1941 in Christian County, Kentucky, E.J. was the son of the late Osby Mock and the late Lou Sisk Mock. He worked many years as a truck driver for Yellow Freight before retiring. He married Mary Cay on June 19, 1982. He enjoyed welding, working on cars and trucks, riding his motorcycle, and daily visits to Waffle House for a cup of coffee. Above all, he adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren and was so proud of each of them for their many accomplishments.

 

In addition to his wife, he leaves behind to cherish his memories his sister, Verla (Roy) Back of Spring Hill, TN; step children: Priscilla Jennings of Columbia, TN,  Jerry Wayne Hines of Columbia, TN, Robert (Laura) Hines of Hendersonville, NC, Lance (Mildred) Hines of High Ridge, MO; son in law, Ted Jennings of Columbia, TN; loving grandchildren: Tessa (John) Ashworth of Columbia, TN, Tyson Jennings (Preslie Baker) of Columbia, TN, Tately Cay (Zack) Gray of Columbia, TN, Mary Dallis (Lee) Ogle of Fayetteville, TN, Carter Knox Hines, Chase Memphis-Wayne Hines, Cyrus DeLosSantos; great grandchildren: Mya Faith Ashworth, Ava Claire Ogle, Luke Ogle, Hunter Wayne Ashworth; and brother in law, Hiram “Greg” Luna.

 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Norris Mock and Nathan Mock.

 

Pallbearers will be: Tyson Jennings, Robert Hines, Jerry Wayne Hines, John Ashworth, Zack Gray, and Roy Back. Honorary pallbearers will include: Lance Hines, Ted Jennings, Lee Ogle, and Jim Foust.
