Beverly Janice Childress Beverly Janice Childress, passed away Thursday evening, February 25th, 2021. She was born on June 3rd, 1941 in Giles County, Tennessee and was 79 years old. Beverly was married to the late Thomas Childress for 51 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had the sweetest smile and was known to many as “nanny”. She enjoyed cooking with the grandchildren and doing any kind of crafts. She was a seamstress for 33 years for W.E. Stephens and she retired from The Growing Tree. Beverly was also a devoted member of New Zion Baptist Church for 65 years. Visitation will be held Monday, March 1st, 2021 from 3:00 until 7:00pm at Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, March 2nd, 2021 in the Chapel of Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Giles Memory Gardens.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Growing Tree Nursery School, 200 West Jefferson Street, Pulaski, TN 38478.
She was preceded in death by her parents Luther and Lillie Porterfield, her husband Thomas Childress and sister Sandra Creecy.
She is survived by her Daughter, Karla (Tony) Glover of Pulaski, Tennessee. Daughter, Kim (Daniel) Drake of Pulaski, Tennessee.
Sister, Wanda Harwell of Pulaski, Tennessee.Brother, Loyd (Patsy) Porterfield of Pulaski, Tennessee. Grandchildren, Malori (Jonathan) Vickers of Pulaski, Tennessee. Hope, Cole, and Kamdan Drake all from Pulaski, Tennessee. Great-grandchildren, Lillie & Jase Vickers of Pulaski, Tennessee.
Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory are in charge of arrangements for Beverly Janice Childress.
