Robert Allen Helt of Ramer, TNRobert Allen Helt was born June 21, 1940 in Chicago, IL the son of the late John P. and Alice Sheppard Helt.

He was united in marriage to Jean Colbert on February 2, 1964.

Mr. Helt served his country honorably for four years in the United States Navy, attaining the rank of ATN2. He attended Freed-Hardeman College in Henderson and Memphis State, graduating with a B. S. degree and completing graduate courses in psychology and philosophy as well. Mr. Helt worked for Tennessee Employment Security and Tennessee Services for the Blind before becoming a Pre-trial Services Counselor for Shelby County, Tennessee. He taught children’s computer graphics art classes at the Memphis College of Art on Saturdays while the family lived in Memphis. Woodcarving, collecting rocks, fishing and reading were some of his favorite pastimes. Mr. Helt was a member of the Henderson church of Christ and a former member of the White Station church of Christ in Memphis. He had also attended the Eastview church of Christ and the Estes church of Christ, and was a member of the Memphis Archeological & Geological Society, the Southwest Tennessee Woodcarvers Association, and American Legion Post 157 in Henderson, where he formerly served as vice-commander.

Mr. Helt departed this life on February 20, 2021 in Ramer, Tennessee at the age of 80 Years, 7 Months, 30 Days. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jean (Colbert) Helt of Ramer, TN; two daughters, Paula Cassidy and husband Jamie of Memphis, TN and Elissa Powell and husband Robbie of Ramer, TN; a brother, James Franklin Helt and wife Sandy of San Diego, CA; and many extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Helt was preceded in death by a grandchild, Lauren Elisabeth Powell.
