Decatur Man Charged With Capital Murder After 8-Month-Old Girl Dies

DECATUR-On Tuesday, February 9 the Decatur Police were called on a medical distress call of a child to a home in the 2200 block of Victoria Drive SW.  When they arrived they found an 8-month-old child who was unresponsive who was taken to a hospital. It appeared from the injuries the child had bee assaulted.

The child was taken in critical condition to a Birmingham hospital where the infant girl died from her injuries on February 15. The child was taken off life support after two tests showed she had no brain activity at Children’s of Alabama Hospital.  The girl had been in hospital unresponsive for six days.

Cameron Almen Elliott, 22 of Decatur has been charged with capital murder of the 8-month-old girl and is being held in the Morgan County Jail without bond .  Elliott also has been charged with sexual torture, 1st degree marijuana charges and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
