A memorial service for Charles Michael “Mike” Hopson, age 69, of Fayetteville will be conducted at 2 PM on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Self and Dr. Jon Hathcock officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 12 PM until 2 PM Saturday at Higgins Funeral Home.

Mike was born on October 14, 1951 in Lincoln County, TN to the late Charles R. and Lucille Boaz Hopson. Mike knew from an early age that his heart was in helping others through police work. Mike starting filling in as a dispatcher at the age of 15, he retired 39 years later as a Police Officer with the City of Fayetteville. After retirement, Mike continued his work with law enforcement helping with radio programming and the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Officers Association (TLETOA). Mike married the light of his life, Nancy Hopson on April 14, 1973. They shared 47 wonderful years of marriage. Mike was a member of the Fayetteville First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He passed away on February 9, 2021 in Nashville, TN .

In addition to his wife, Mike is survived by his son, Tommy (Jenny) Hopson; grandchildren, Luke, Eli, Caleb, Joshua, Abby, and Ben Hopson; and three cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-9959
