Hanceville Man Dies In Two-Vehicle Accident In Blount County

BLOUNT COUNTY-On Wednesday, February 10 the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reported a two-vehicle accident that has taken the life of one person and inured a second person:

“A two-vehicle crash at approximately 6:20 a.m. Tuesday, February 9, has claimed the life of a Hanceville man.

Byron Holland Smith, 34, was fatally injured when the 2016 Ford Escape he was driving crossed the centerline and collided with a 2020 Mack tractor-trailer. Smith was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the tractor- trailer was injured and was transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The crash occurred on U.S. 278 near Hipp Road, approximately seven miles east of Blountsville. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
