Funeral Service for Allan Wayne Simms, age 72 of Fayetteville, will be conducted at 12 PM Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Fayetteville First Baptist Church with Dr. Jon Hathcock officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be Saturday from 9 AM until time of service at Fayetteville First Baptist Church.

Wayne was born on June 29, 1948 in Lincoln County, TN to the late Lester and Faye Moore Simms. He was a 1966 graduate of Central High School and received his Masters degree from Tennessee Tech University. Wayne married the love of his life, Sheila Fay Simms on June 14, 1969 and they shared 51 wonderful years of marriage. He worked for the State of Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency in fisheries while managing the Flintville Fish Hatchery until his retirement. Wayne touched a lot of peoples lives while doing real estate. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and singing with the praise band at First Baptist Church where he was a member. Wayne passed away on February 2, 2021 at Huntsville Hospital.

In addition to his wife, Wayne is survived by his children, April (Kenny) Sims-Ikard and Heath Simms both of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Timothy Ryan (Sam) Sims, Joseph Wayne Sims, Bryson Simms, Bryleah (Coty) McConnell, and Braden Simms; great-grandchild, Wesley Sims; brother, Lionel (Pam) Simms of Baton Rouge, LA; brother-in-law, Jim Eldridge; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his sister, Jan Eldridge and son-in-law, Tony Sims.
