Olene Nixon RollinsOlene Rollins of Samson and formerly of Hamilton, AL passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021.  She was 86.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at the Hamilton First Baptist Church with Rev. Jeremy Sorrells and Rev. Kenny Hatcher, officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton City Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson, directing.  Mrs. Rollins’ family will receive friends in the church one hour prior to the funeral service. The family will also receive friends at the funeral home in Samson on Thursday, February 4, 2021, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Mrs. Rollins was born in Marion County, AL March 30, 1934, to the late Ed and Annie Savanah Nixon.  Prior to her retirement, she worked for the Southern Company for many years.  She enjoyed traveling and watching her husband play tennis.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Rollins; eight brothers, Orvil Nixon, Tom Nixon, Audie Nixon, Freeman Nixon, Oakland Nixon, Austin Nixon, Leonard Nixon, and Crawford Nixon; and three sisters, Lois Owen, Eunice Moyers, and Mamie Clark.

She is survived by her sister, Corine Wiginton of Samson; brother, Edgar Nixon of Hamilton; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was the biggest Alabama fan there ever was.  Her fun and attentive spirit will dearly be missed by all of her family and friends alike.  She always had time for a chat to catch up on everyone’s life and learn how all her friends and their families were doing.
