Mary Evelyn Rigsby, age 86, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021. Mary Evelyn was born September 7, 1934 in Cullman, Alabama to Eula Gladys and James H Garmon.
Evelyn married Kelley J Rigsby on July 8, 1952. She stayed devoted to the one and only love of her life in the 37 years since he preceded her in death, often sharing stories of their times together.

Evelyn is survived by daughter Kelley Bayer (Steven), their children Joseph (Rachel) and Sara. Son Robert Rigsby (Sandra), their children Nathan, Bobby, Amanda (Tim) and Tommy (Tina). Affectionately known as Nana to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she absolutely loved seeing and spending time with them.

Loved any and all family get togethers. Enjoyed talking to her brothers and sisters daily, and enjoyed hearing from family and friends. She was a Lifelong Alabama football fan. She enjoyed going to the lake and fishing, and liked taking care of her flower garden. Always had a beautiful smile for everybody, that would light up the room, along with contagious laughter. She could always remember names of people she just met. Never complained about how she felt. (A nurse at the hospital used the term “stoic” to describe her generation.) She worked at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville until she was 80 years old. She was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church.

Evelyn was one of 10 children born to Homer and Gladys Garmon. She is survived by two sisters Virginia (Maury) and Dean (late husband Jack), three brothers John (Gerta), Van (Kathy) and Barry. Evelyn was preceded in death by her son Roger Rigsby, her father and mother, sister Nell (Walt), brothers Bob (Mary), JD (Nelda), and Hudson (Linda). A visitation for Evelyn will be held Tuesday, February 2, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home. A celebration of life will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Terrell Boyd officiating, burial at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
