Mary Veda Arnold, 95, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many, a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, went home to be with Jesus on January 17, 2021. She was greeted at Heaven’s gate by many beloved family members who arrived there before her. This included her husband, Bill Arnold; Daughter, Judy Arnold Evans; Mother, Cora Garner; Father, Walker Garner; Sisters, Geraldine Hess, Ruth Womack, Rena Holder; Brother, G. W. Garner. Niece, Billie Quinn; Nephews, Kenneth Hess, CW Garner, Jimmy Garner.

Mrs. Veda was a longtime resident of Scottsboro. She was a devoted member of Shiloh Baptist Church where she served as the church treasurer, custodian, choir member, and so many other positions during the 53 years she attended there. She loved Jesus above all and gave all the glory to God for the good things in her life. Even in times of pain and hardship, she never lost her faith or gratitude to the Lord. She left behind a legacy of faithfulness and kindness to others. She will be forever missed in the hearts and lives of the countless people she touched in her 95 years on earth.

She is survived by her granddaughters, Susan Balducci (Ben) and Jana Johnson; great-granddaughter, Mary Gracelyn Balducci; nieces, Ann Looney (Ken), Rhonda Hess, Beth Jones (Byron), Vickie Leak (Danny); nephews, Terry Hess (Frieda), Donnie Hess (Della), Gene Holder (Shay), Larry Holder, Randall Holder (Gwen).

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Scottsboro Funeral Home, with Bishop Matt Beaty officiating. Family will receive friends from 11am-1pm with a Celebration of Life service at 1pm. Burial will follow immediately after at Pinehaven Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Gene Holder, Terry Hess, Donnie Hess, Ken Looney, Stevie Quinn, and Danny Leak. Honorary pallbearers are Randall Holder and Larry Holder.
