George Wayne Matthews, age 67, Albertville passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at his home.
His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Albertville Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon cemetery. Rev. David Martin will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Chris Morris, David Morris, Ken Bubbett, Dana Springfield, Danny Hunt and Terri Strawn. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Richardson and J. R. Davis. Music will be provided by Nathan Burns. Visitation will be from 12:30 until 2 before the service.
He is survived by his wife, Shelia Matthews, daughter, Katie (Josh) Hatley, grandchildren, Auburn Claire Hatley and Addison Cate Hatley, sister, Ann (Donny) Morris and Betty Montgomery, mother-in-law, Genie Boyd, sister-in-law, Helen (Gene) Lewis, brother-in-law, Freddy (Christy) Boyd and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Nell Matthews and two infant brothers.
