Wynette Griggs Chittam  Wynette Griggs Chittam, age 84, passed away peacefully at Huntsville Hospital surrounded by her three daughters on Friday, January 8, 2021, from complications related to her 2016 cancer diagnosis. She was born on December 12, 1936, in Limestone County to Burton Luther Griggs and Grace Jackson Griggs.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 14, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at the graveside at Limestone Memorial Gardens at 2:00 p.m.

Wynette was married to her high school sweetheart Randolph Chittam for 62 years.
She graduated from West Limestone High School in 1954 and spent her early working days at Redstone Arsenal. She later spent time at home raising her three daughters and returned to work in 1975 with the Limestone County Commission, where she retired in 1996. Wynette was a lifelong member of O’Neal Church of Christ. Her passion was spending time with her family and wide circle of friends, staying on the go, whether it was to church, attending any event in which her grandchildren participated, or traveling, as long as an airplane wasn’t involved.

Wynette was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Genese Hightower.
She is survived by her three daughters, Cindy Schlosser (Rod), Shea Lewter (Kent) and Anissa Greene (Bobby Earl); five grandchildren, Blair Schlosser Waddell (Josh), Cole Lewter, Brett Lewter, Riley Greene and Chloe Greene; two step-grandchildren, Patrick Schlosser (Stephanie) and Brooke Schlosser; one great grandchild, Easton Greene; two step-great-grandchildren, Jackson Schlosser and Stella Schlosser; one sister, Pat McConnell and two brothers, Edgar Dow Griggs (Janice) and BL Griggs (Linda).

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Brenda Crutcher for the love, companionship and care she provided to their mother during the last months of her life. She was truly a God-send and answer to prayers. The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to Don and Kathy Sloan and Martha Camp for always lending a helping hand when needed.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Earl Greene, Kent Lewter, Cole Lewter, Brett Lewter, Rod Schlosser and Josh Waddell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or the charity of your choice.
