John Henry Carlisle passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at the age of 89 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Iuka. He attended First Freewill Baptist Church of Iuka for 13 years until he became unable to attend due to his health. Survivors include his wife, Edna Gray Carlisle of Farmington; 1 daughter, Brenda South (Dennis) of Iuka; 1 granddaughter, Heather Wicks (Warner) of Iuka; 2 great grandchildren, Keandre and Phaedra Wicks; and 2 step great grandchildren, Derrion and Aysha Wicks; 1 step daughter, Carol Roberts of Corinth; 3 step sons, Wayne Gray (Joan) of Corinth, Wendell Gray (Betty) and Tim Gray (Joy) of Georgia; 1 brother, Larry Gene Carlisle of Iuka; and a host of special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Earlene Deaton Carlisle; his parents, Jessie Oliver and Charity Mae Moore Carlisle; five brothers, Billy Carlisle, Alvin Carlisle, Alton Carlisle, Robert Carlisle, and J.C. Carlisle; and one sister, Bessy Carlisle Walters. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with the arrangements. Services will be at 2pm, Sunday, January 17, 2021 officiated by Bro. Jamie Nanney. Burial will be held at Antioch Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Burnsville, MS. Pallbearers will be Dennis South, Warner Wicks, Keandre Wicks, Derrion Wicks, James Reddell, and Delbert Walters. Donations may be made in John’s honor to First Freewill Baptist Church in Iuka.
