Roy Albert Taylor, 86, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, January 9, 2021. He was born in Manchester, TN on November 27, 1934 to Almer and Roberta Taylor. He served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years, after which he obtained an Electrical Engineering degree from Tennessee Technological University. Roy retired from NASA in Huntsville, Alabama in 1989 after 26 years of service. Roy was then employed by The University of Alabama-Huntsville for three years.

Roy was a loving and devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved the Lord and was a faithful Christian. Roy served as an elder at Fanning Heights Church of Christ for many years and was most recently an active member at West Huntsville Church of Christ. He loved Alabama football, country music, golf, and the many years he and his wife, Edna, spent selling knives at gun & knife shows around the Southeast.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Almer and Roberta Taylor; brother, Jay Taylor; and grandson, Clayton Roy Taylor. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of almost 65 years, Edna Simpson Taylor. He is also survived by his son, Jeff Taylor (wife, Lee) and granddaughter, Ellen; his son David Taylor (wife, Denise) and grandchildren, Jon William, Major and Meredith. Roy also leaves behind a brother, Chuck (wife, Martha) and sister-in-law, Iva Taylor, along with other beloved extended family members.

There will be a small, private memorial service on Tuesday, January 12, 2021.
