Mildred Dutton, 78, of Hillsboro passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Huntsville Hospital. A graveside service will be at 12 noon on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Midway Memorial Gardens with Lawrence Funeral Home assisting the family.

Mrs. Mildred will be remembered as a good, honest woman who loved everyone and was willing to do whatever was needed to help someone.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Leon Dutton; sons, Timothy Leon Dutton (Lynn) and Christopher Kelly Dutton (Debbie); five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Sealy (Eddie), Jimmie Filyaw, Clara Terry (Benny), Martha Raper (Harvey), Janet Gillentine (Larry), and Vickie Winchester (Anthony); brothers, Joe Gillespie (Elaine) and Phillip Gillespie (Becky); sisters-in-law, Frances Daphene Westmoreland, Dorothy Ruth Sandlin (Wendell); brothers-in-law, Clyde Smith, Winford Dutton (Betty) and Price Dutton (Linda); and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Mrs. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Gladys Gillespie; sister, Sandra Smith; brothers-in-law, Newt Filyaw, Jr., Ruel Dutton, Roy Dutton, Wendell Dutton, Dewey Dutton, Jimmy Westmoreland, and Grady Roberts; sisters-in-law, Helen Jeanette Dutton, and Mary Magdalene Roberts.

Pallbearers will be her nephews.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Woodall and the doctors, nurses and staff at the Pain Center in Athens for their care over the years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital in Mildred’s memory.
