Mrs. Betty Lou Laster Betty Lou Laster, age 82, resident of Jackson, TN and formerly of Scotts Hill, TN, departed this life Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Betty was born September 6, 1938 in Decaturville, TN to the late Farris and Marie Brasher. She graduated from Decaturville High School and West Tennessee Business College with a degree in bookkeeping. Betty worked at The Scott’s Hill Garment Factory for several years. Her greatest joy came from living and working on her and her late husband Don’s farm.
She was married to the late William “Don” Laster for 51 years. She was a faithful member of Scotts Hill Methodist Church for many years where she taught Children’s Sunday School. She loved the children and they loved her.
Betty enjoyed cooking, gardening, attending church, and spending time with family and friends. She especially loved Boston Terriers and has had several family pets over the years.
Betty is survived by her son, William “Eddie” Laster and his wife, Tammy of Jackson, TN; her daughter Donna Mascari of Jackson, TN; five grandchildren, Sarah Brown (Matt), Katie Cox (Hunter), Mia Heidecker (Christian), Brittany Mayall (Bret), and Alex Corlew; six great grandchildren, Michael, Savannah, and Sammy Brown, Creed and Kennedy Cox, and Brody Mayall. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Don” Laster; twin brother, Billy Brasher; son-in-law, Greg Mascari; and grandson, Ronnie Stiles.
A private graveside service will be held Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Scotts Hill Methodist Cemetery with Pastor Donna Thompson officiating. The family plans to have a Celebration of Life church service at a later date due to covid.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Scotts Hill Cemetery Fund @ 7 Second St. Jackson, TN 38301.
