Dorothy "Dot" Pettey  Dorothy Dillard  “Dot” Pettey 95, was born in Bessemer, Alabama on March 26, 1925 and passed away peacefully in her home on January 7, 2021.  Dot Graduated from Huntington College.

She was a strongly independent woman.  She cherished her faith, church and family.  She enjoyed traveling and she loved her friends.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Robert H. Pettey, Jr. (Bev), Richard D. Pettey (Meg) and Christopher A. Pettey (Mary), her grandchildren, Robert H. Pettey, III, Sheridan P. Briskman, Gregory M. Pettey, Christopher A. Pettey, Jr., Richard J. Pettey, Elizabeth Ann Pettey, Caroline Laura Sullivan Pettey, Margaret P. Giovino, Katherine P. Cubelic, and her great grandchildren,  Robert H. Pettey, IV, Emma Lawrence Pettey, Williams Lyle Briskman, Joshua Mayer Briskman, Ann Thompson Pettey, Adeline Margaret Pettey, Katherine Elizabeth Cubelic, John Judge Cubelic, Charles Locke Cubelic, Rosalia Pierce Giovino, Margaret Sullivan Giovino, and Richard Hartsfield Giovino.

Dot was predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Florence Dillard, her husband, Robert Hicks Pettey, Sr., her son, William M. Pettey, her great grandson, Gregory Mynes Pettey, Jr., and her sisters, Evelyn Wiggins and Mary K. Stapp.

A family graveside service will be held Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 3:30pm at Roselawn Cemetery in Decatur, Alabama with Reverends Ray Crump and Miriam Smith officiating. It is a request of the family that donations be made to Central Methodist Church, Decatur, Alabama, Hospice of North Alabama, or a charity of your choice.  Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family.
