Martin Luther King Jr. Remembrance March to Take Place at UNA

  2019 MLK Day | University of North AlabamaFLORENCE – The annual Martin Luther King Jr., Remembrance March on the University of North Alabama campus will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 18. Participants are asked to gather on the front entrance steps of the Wendell W. Gunn Commons for a brief welcome.

“The Remembrance March honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., is an annual campus tradition,” said Ron Patterson, Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

“Even with our COVID-19 protocols in place, we look forward to taking this time to reflect on

Dr. King and the Civil Rights Movement.”

 

The march will take place through campus and will end at the Guillot University Center Atrium where there will be boxed lunches, information about the UNA Black Studies program, live music, and information about ways to honor Dr. King through community service.

 

Masks and social distancing will be required, and temperatures will be checked before entering any buildings. Students, faculty, staff, and community members are invited to participate. This event is hosted by the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the Office of Student Engagement. In the event of inclement weather, the march will be cancelled.
