Billie Gene Faulkner, 90 of Athens, passed away Friday, January 1, 2021 at his residence.
There will be a graveside service Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Roselawn Cemetery with Rick Cantrell officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:30 AM to 12:45 PM at McConnell Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Watts, Darrell Stevens, Chris Joye, Lonnie Williams, Ronnie Faulkner, and Andrew Crouch.

Mr. Faulkner was born March 13, 1930 in Blount County, AL to Will Faulkner and Jean McClusky Faulkner.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 65 years, Mary Ann Faulkner, who passed away in 2017; one brother, Bob Faulkner; and one grandson, Will Stevens.

Mr. Faulkner graduated Cleveland High School in 1948. He went to Howard College, now known as Samford College. After college, he entered the US Air force and served for 4 years, and served in the Korean War. Mr. Faulkner was a state trooper for 31 years and retired as a Corporal. He was known to everyone as “Granny”.

Survivors include, two sons, Paul Faulkner and John Faulkner both of Athens; two daughters, Jean Stevens (Darrell) of Somerville, AL; Debbie Crouch of Athens, AL; one sister, Betty Sue Adams of Cleveland, AL; four grandchildren, Taylor Joye (Chris) of Harvest, AL; Lauren Faulkner of Athens, AL; Andrew Crouch of Athens, AL; Emily Crouch of Athens, AL; and one great-granddaughter, Bristol Joye.
