Mrs. Edith Myris Painter Shipp Mrs. Edith Myris Painter Shipp of Arab, Alabama; transitioned and entered the Gates of Heaven in the early hours of January 1, 2021 at the age of 86 years.
Mrs. Shipp was earthly sent to the late Comer Painter and Edith Reed Painter on September 12, 1934 in Painter, Alabama. Mrs. Shipp had spent her earlier years working as a customer service manager with the company of ‘Otelco’ and later retired her position to take part in some of her most beloved hobbies such as; gardening, sewing and cooking. Mrs. Shipp was a member of the Gilliam Springs Baptist Church from the year of 1962 until her passing. There she served as a children’s Sunday school teacher for over 30 years and was also a youth activities director. In addition she was proud to be a deacons wife, but above all, her life revolved around her family.
Mrs. Shipp leaves behind to celebrate her life and legacy; sons, Richard Michael Shipp (Wanda) and Mark Steven Shipp (Vicki); daughters, Melinda Hamilton (Doug) and Michele Shipp; sisters and brother-in-laws, Carol Guice (James), Meril Machen (Ben) and Judy Tyner (Joe); as well as 11 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
In addition to her beloved parents; Mrs. Shipp is at last reunited with her one true love, Richard “Dick” Shipp; brother, Harold Painter and granddaughter, Celena Kay Shipp.
A Funeral Service will take place at the Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel on Sunday – January 3, 2021 beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Clint Maze and Bro. Frank Whitaker, officiating.
Interment will follow service immediately at the Gilliam Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers escorting Mrs. Shipp to her final resting place will include; Matthew Shipp, Nathan Shipp, Evan Shipp, Brandon Chastain, Trey Hamilton and Colin Shipp.
In Lieu of Flowers; the Shipp Family has requested that donations be made to the Children’s Hospital of Birmingham, Alabama.
