Mr. William Clyde Travis Thrower William Clyde Travis Thrower, 80 of Decatur, Alabama was taken home on angel wings on December 26, 2020 at his home surrounded by family after a courageous fight with cancer.
He was born September 18th, 1940 in Arab, Alabama, the son of the late Clyde William Lewis Thrower and the late Audie Estelle Hardin Thrower. He was preceded in death by his sister Vondaleen Brewster and grandson Anthony.
He was a graduate of Arab High School and served in the United States Army. He was an athlete who played football, baseball, golf and was a very talented bowler and pool player.Over the years he worked for GE, NASA at the Redstone Arsenal and Cape Canaveral in Florida,American National Insurance, Liberty National Insurance,Mutual Savings Insurance, as a salesman for Lynn Layton Chevrolet and once he retired, he operated his own lawn maintenance business.He also served as chairman of the board of trustees for the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie 4185 of Decatur in 2018. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, friend and huge fan of Alabama football.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela McCall Thrower; daughter Tami Cheek her children Amanda, Justin and Roy; daughter Bridget Younger and her spouse Shannon and their children Jacob, Tyler and Morgan; and two sisters, Mary Jo Woodward and Carolyn Thrower and their families as well as his aunt Pauline Kelly.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday – December 30, 2020 from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
A Graveside Service and interment will follow the visitation at the Arab Memorial Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Randy Blakely, officiating.
