Unidentified Woman Dies In Head-On Collision Near Athens

ATHENS-On Sunday, December 27 the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency report a two-vehicle crash that has taken the life of one person and injured another:

“A two vehicle crash at 6:15 a.m. on Sunday, December 27, has claimed the life of a woman.

The unidentified woman was fatally injured when the 2015 Dodge Dart she was operating was hit head-on by a Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Eric Carson King, 19, of Athens.

King’s vehicle crossed the center line and collided with the Dodge. Both drivers were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment where the unidentified woman succumbed to her injuries. Alcohol is considered to be a contributing factor to the crash.

The crash occurred on Huntsville Browns Ferry Road near Lucas Ferry Road, approximately five miles south of Athens. Nothing further is available as the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continues to investigate.”
