Mrs. Betty Jean Earwood Burden Betty Jean Earwood Burden passed away quietly the morning of December 23rd at Cullman Regional Hospital. Born in Cullman County on December 15, 1928 to Archie W. Earwood and Nancy Cleland Earwood. She was one of nine children and was a lifelong member of the Hulaco Ryan community and a member of Hebron Church of Christ congregation.
Betty was an accomplished business woman, farmer and dairywoman. She served with distinction for many years on the Morgan County Soil and Water Conservation District, the locally led management for the US Department of Agriculture and Natural Resource Conservation Service. She enjoyed gardening, was a wonderful cook and treasured her family and friendships.
She is survived by three children: John Ray Burden Jr., Jill Burden Mitchell and Joan Burden Pender (Carlton). Five grandchildren: Tammy Burden, Tara Burden, Joe Turk (April), Grad Mitchell and Wes Mitchell. Four great granddaughters: Tori, Harley, Lilly and Johnlyn and two great great grandsons: Stryker and Baker. Brother: Ronald Earwood (Elaine)
She was preceded in death by husband John Ray Burden Sr.; daughters, Rebecca Lynn (Becky) Burden and Reba Burden Turk; brothers, Gewin O. Earwood, Travis Earwood, Wayburn Earwood, H.Jay Earwood, Dale Earwood; sisters Alene Wood and Ella Vann Earwood.
There will be a private service for family and close friends at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel on December 27th. Visitation from 1:00 to 2:00, service at 2:00. Committal service with scripture and prayer to follow at Arab Cemetery. Officiating: Ronald Earwood and T.J. Latham
Pallbearers will be; Larkin Earwood, Wes Mitchell, Grad Mitchell, Joe Turk, Jesus Pecina and Stephen Ryan.
The family requires that all attendees wear a mask and respect social distancing guidelines.
