Mrs. Louise Martin Smalley Louise Martin Smalley, 93, born March 10, 1927, was welcomed into heaven by her Lord and Savior on
December 14, 2020, with a perfect mind and body, to join the love of her life and husband of almost 70
years, Jerrel Smalley.
She was born in Hartselle, Alabama, but lived most of her life in Arab where she graduated from Arab
High School. She worked at the Bank of Arab early in her career, then worked alongside Jerrel as a
bookkeeper in his many business ventures for many years.
She is predeceased by her husband, Jerrel Smalley, parents William Albert and Grace Martin of Arab,
and sister, Evia Ruth Martin of Decatur, AL. She is survived by her sister, Leona (Ganes) Burden of
Florette, AL., her son Dan (Mary Nell) Smalley, her daughter, Jan (Brad) Kitchens of Arab, grandchildren,
Jeremy (Amber) Smalley of Bayou La Batre,AL., Dana (Brian) Camp, Wes Kitchens and Caleigh Kitchens,
and great grandson, James Camp, all of Arab.
She was active in a number of organizations alongside her husband and was a lifelong member of Arab
First Baptist Church.
Her funeral will be a private family graveside service at Arab Memorial Cemetery at 3:00 pm on
Thursday, December 17, 2020. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Smalley, Wes Kitchens, Brad Kitchens, Brian
Camp, and Mickey Childers with Jeremy Smalley and Wes Kitchens officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in her memory be made to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice,
408 Martling Road, Albertville, AL. 35951 who gave her wonderful end of life care.
