Mrs. Laney was born August 10, 1936 to Allie Henry & Itaska Nesmith Shumate.  She passed away Saturday, November 14th at her residence.  It had been just over two years since she had her first stroke and she fought hard, but now her battle is over.  She lived a long life with many happy moments with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She also had tough moments, losing a daughter and a grandson far too young.  She didn’t let these moments bring her down.  We all admired her class and grace.  Bobby Jean was an excellent seamstress.    She was loved by so many and she will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Cindy Sterling; grandson, Scotty Laney; brother, Mason Shumate; sister, Betty Joyce Clemmons; son-in-law, Orville Kinney Quattlebaum.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Buel Laney; sons, Billy Joe Laney, Josh (Chelsea) Sterling; daughters, Palma Jean Quattlebaum, Tammie Susan (Randy) Parker, Revonza Kay (Ralph) Tolbert; brother, Thomas (Melissa) Shumate; sisters, Martha Sue Wimberly, Rose Mary (R.B.) Woods; grandchildren, Traundia (John) Lambert, Kelly Quattlebaum, Jeremy (Jennifer) Quattlebaum, Holly (Ty) Bogard, Erica (Griffin) Stanford, Michael Tolbert, Clint (Jesyka) Parker, Laney (Nate) Ayers, Andrea Parker, Emma Lane Sterling; great-grandchildren, Gaven, Colby, Kinsley, Gabe, Jazzlyn, Jaylie, Jovie, Parker, Walker, Charli, Aubrey, Finn, Millie, Sam, Ethan, Lincoln; and a host of family and friends.
