Gilbert Hill

Gilbert Hill, 91, of Florence passed away on November 10, 2020. Gilbert was a the owner of Gilbert Hill Bonding and served the community for many years as a bail bondsman, a Justice of the Peace in the 70’s, serviceman in both the US Air Force and Army National Guard- being discharged private 1st class, and owned and managed Hill’s Grocery with his brother in the 90’s.

 

Gilbert is survived by his grandchildren, Janie (Chris) Burgess, Leslie (Miranda) Hill, Josh Keaton; great-grandchildren, Regen Keaton, Colby Burgess; sister Patricia (Dickie) Howard; and 13 nieces and nephews.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Velma Hill; his loving wife, Susie May Hill; son, Gilbert “Danny” Hill Jr.; siblings, Opal Gray, Sue Maness, Howard Hill, William Hill, and Fred Hill.

 

There will be a graveside held for Mr. Hill at Florence City Cemetery on Friday, November 13, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

 

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Gilbert’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of your choice.
