Gary David Joseph Sullivan, 64 of Houston, entered into rest on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.

Gary was born on June 14, 1956 in Brooklyn, New York to Richard Patrick Sullivan and Barbara Marie Kaufman Sullivan. He worked for a number of years as a correctional officer at the Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, Florida. Gary had a passion for music and was one of the most awesome drummers in the country.  Before surrendering is heart to Jesus Christ, Gary travelled for 37 years all over the world playing drums with various bands, including playing for troops in Korea, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Australia. Gary was recognized for his drumming excellence by ProMark Drumsticks by D’Addario and was a tester for drumsticks aimed at drummers with arthritis. He tested drumsticks for over a year to help ProMark add a line of drumsticks that had increased grip for drummers with finger issues. Most recently, Gary used his talent for the Lord playing drums at Houston Church of God, where he attended.

A memorial service will be planned for a later date and arrangements will be posted when finalized.

Gary is survived by his wife of 15 years, Tula Jo Sullivan; brother, Richard Sullivan; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Barbara Sullivan; sister, Barbara Ellen Sullivan Banford; and sister-in-law, Loraine Ann Sullivan.
