Mary Ann Brown Mary Ann Garrison Brown, 89 , of Guntersville passed away peacefully at Barfield Nursing Home on November 3rd, 2020 after an extended illness. Ann was born February 4, 1931 in Guntersville to Edgar and Ethel (Hipp) Garrison. She married Robert Arles (Bob) Brown, Jr. , of Guntersville, in 1950.

Ann was raised in the Ruth community and in Arab. After graduation from Snead College, Ann received her teaching certificate and taught in several rural Marshall County schools. After the birth of her sons, Ann became an aide at Cherokee Elementary and then later at the new Guntersville Elementary School, retiring there in 1988. Ann was a lover of gardening, flower arranging, birdwatching, and all of nature. She was a natural “caretaker” of people and enjoyed nothing more than helping and serving others. Due to Covid concerns, the family will hold a private graveside service. A celebration of Ann’s life will be held next summer. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ann’s name may be made to:
The Music Ministry at First Baptist Church in Guntersville and Big Oak Ranch in Springville, Alabama.
