F 10.27.20 Naomi Early Cahoon Brown.jpgNaomi Early Cahoon Brown, 101, of Cherokee, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2020. The visitation will be Wednesday, October 28, at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster, Mississippi, from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. with the service to follow at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery.

Naomi was a native of Bay Springs, Mississippi and was active in the Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. Naomi retired from the Baptist Book Store and enjoyed such hobbies as homemaking, sewing, dress making, quilting, and taking care of children. She was known for cooking the best fried chicken in the world! Naomi is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Early; son, Johnny Ray Cahoon; grandchild, Christy LaShay Cahoon Kelso; brothers, Rex Horrace Early, Carmen Early, Travis Lindsey Early, and John Mat Early; and her sister, Maudine Early Gossett.

Naomi is survived by her children, James Battle Cahoon (Lovana), Cherokee, Alabama, Mary Jo Cahoon Morrissey (John W.), New Orleans, Louisiana, and Stephen Early Cahoon (Kymberley Jean Louie) Richmond, California; grandchildren, James Battle Cahoon, III (Theresa) Cherokee, Alabama, John W. Morrissey (Ann), Washington, D.C., Mary Elizabeth Morrissey Wooridge (Donald), New Orleans, Louisiana, Bonnie Lagraize (Scott), New Orleans, Louisianna, Shawn Marie Cahoon Helton, Daphne, Alabama, Stephen Early Cahoon, Jr., Mobile, Alabama, Samuel Gunnar Cahoon, Ireland, and Hannah Lisa Cahoon, Navato, California; sisters, Florine Lassiter, Moss Point, Mississippi, Laverne Early Thomas, Mobile, Alabama, and Mary Evelyn Early Martin, Baldwin County, Alabama. Naomi was the beloved mother of five generations with 19 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee assisted with the funeral arrangements.
