Ernest “Edward” Abney, age 94 of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2020. He was born in Alabama to the late John Wesley & Myrtle Roberts Abney.
He retired from Dupont and was a member of Northside Baptist Church of Chattanooga.
Due to COVID concerns, the family will have a private graveside service.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mrs. Mary Stringer Abney; children, Tim Abney (Debbie), Debbie Ritter (Tom) and Vickie Ward (Cliff); brother, Bill Abney; sisters, Dorothy Bishop, Josephine McDonald, Faye Frizzell, and Margaret Ballew; grandchildren, Marcie, Chelsea, Emily, Sara Beth, Tom, Amy, and Cooper; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and several brothers and sisters.
Wilson Funeral Home and Crematory of Fort Payne is in charge of arrangements.
