Martha Sue Clemons, 81, of New Market went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 21, 2020 surrounded by her family. She is preceded in death by her husbands, James H. “Buddy” Clemons and Robert Z. “Zeake” Spelce; two daughters, Sharron Clemons Neely and Kimberly Clemons Arriaga; as well as grandson, Randall Cory Upton and a special cousin, Hilda Bolden.

Sue spent her whole life caring for people she knew and loved. She was a master seamstress and cake decorator. She trusted in her Lord and Savior everyday of her life when times got hard, and sometimes they got very hard. She turned to Jesus for her support and peace. She would often say that some of her best memories were times of working in the garden with daddy, canning vegetables that they had grown, sewing birthday and Christmas gifts, and decorating cakes with her special love and touch. She loved going to Smithville to the bluegrass convention with Zeake and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Kay Johnson and her husband Jerry; her son, Stan Clemons and his wife Jill; as well as 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, several siblings, nieces, nephews, and loving friends.

We will celebrate Sue’s life on Sunday, October 25 at 2pm at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ralph Henderson and Rev. Todd Oldham officiating. Visitation will be Saturday evening from 5pm until 8pm at Valhalla Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Concord Cemetery in New Market, Alabama. Special thank you for her loving caregivers, Lisa Hall and Hospice of North Alabama for their kind, loving care of our mother during her illness.
