HUNTSVILLE-LifeSouth Community Blood Centers accepted a donation from Circle K in a mid-morning check presentation today.

The Circle K corporation along with twelve Huntsville area Circle K store managers gathered at the South Memorial Parkway location with a check totaling $1,817. Kelley McPhail, District Director at LifeSouth Community Blood Centers, said these funds will impact post-graduation ambitions.

“The scholarship program we have is really a foundation of our future donors,” McPhail said, “and we want to recognize those students who have stepped up in their communities and encouraged people to donate.”

The LifeSouth Community Foundation works to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation with programs aimed at creating the next great generation of blood donors. Scholarships are available through an application process to graduating seniors in the North Alabama area who have helped organize blood drives at their schools. Grants are also given to high schools who host blood drives.

The Circle K Gulf Coast Region made up of five southern states intersects with three states in the LifeSouth service area.

“We were looking for an organization that represented our business footprint,” Jason Bennett, North Alabama Market Manager at Circle K said.

Bennett has been with Circle K for four years and LifeSouth is the first community foundation project the entire North Alabama market has been a part of.
