Mr. Charles "Charlie" Cecil McClendon Mr. Charles “Charlie” Cecil McClendon of Arab, Alabama and formerly of the Thompson Falls Area; passed away on Thursday – October 15, 2020 at the age of 81 years.
Mr. McClendon was born on July 21, 1939 to Homer Elgin McClendon and Emma Elizabeth Alexander McClendon in Marshall County, Alabama. In his earlier years, after high school and receiving his associate’s degree, Charlie landed a position with Xerox as a service manager. He later retired his position with the company to enjoy the hobbies he acquired through the years such as; blacksmithing at the Arab Historical Park. He was a member of the Arab Masonic Lodge 663 for 60 years and was a past worshipful master. Mr. McClendon was an advocate for Scottish Rites and York Rites, former Marshall County Court Commissions District 1 from 2004 – 2008, and many years ago the cub scouts as a leader as well as the Past potentate of Cahaba Shriners Temple.
Mr. McClendon will be forever remembered by his beloved wife of 56 years, Mary Ellen Folsom McClendon; son, Charles Alan McClendon (Melissa); daughter, Sharon Lea McClendon-Price; brother, Tommy McClendon (Linda); sisters, Ruth Saylor (Arthur); grandchildren, Shanna Price, Will Price, Connor McClendon, Cameron McClendon, Mollie Walker, Emma Walker and Tucker Walker; 5 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents; Homer Elgin McClendon and Emma Elizabeth Alexander McClendon, Mr. McClendon is at last reunited with 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
Graveside Services and Burial will be held in the evening of October 17, 2020 at Diamond Cemetery in Guntersville, Alabama with a brief visitation from 3:00 p.m. until service time at 4:00 p.m.
Officiating services will be; Bro. Randy L. Blakely and Bro. Beaul Hunkapiller.
Pallbearers escorting Mr. McClendon to his final resting place will include; Russell Saylor, Steve Hyde, John Saylor, Pete Sparks, Herbert Wood, Chris Benefield and Wayne Moon. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Arab Masonic Lodge 663 & Cahaba Shiners
