Early on the morning of October 13th, 2020, Linda Jean (Hulet) Barton, 72, of Huntsville, AL peacefully went home to Jesus. Believing God’s Word to be true, she often said, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”  2nd Corinthians 5:8

Linda was born to the late Leslie Hulet Jr. and Hazel Conant Hulet on September 8th, 1948, in Greenfield, MA. As a child, Linda learned about Jesus and accepted Him as her Lord and Savior through the bus ministry of the Greenfield Christian & Missionary Alliance Church. She graduated from Greenfield High School in June of 1966.

Linda married her high school sweetheart, Tyrone Gilbert Barton Sr.  on June 25th, 1966.  Over the next several years, she was a supportive military wife, college student wife, mom of two, and pastor’s wife. In 1979, the family settled in Huntsville, and with the exception of one year, have remained in Huntsville since then.  Having a love for children, Linda first volunteered, and then was hired as a “training technician” at the United Cerebral Palsy of Huntsville from 1979-1991 and again from 1993-2001.  Later, in 2005, “Miss Linda” first volunteered, and then was hired by the Downtown Rescue Mission, until she retired in 2014.  She especially delighted in sharing Jesus through the Celebrate Recovery Program to those struggling with addictions.

Linda enjoyed the simple things in life:  coffee dates with her husband, visits with family, attending events of her grandchildren, scrapbooking, Bible study, walks, library visits, reading historical fiction, and always noting which flowers were in bloom and which birds were visiting her window.

She was a member of Valley Presbyterian Church in Madison, but as travel became difficult, she attended the closer Salvation Army Church in Huntsville.  Linda had an unwavering faith in Jesus and shared that faith with her family and those who surrounded her.

Beloved wife, mom, Mimi, and sister, she is survived by her husband of 54 years, Tyrone Barton Sr., her children Christine (Raf) Ahmed, and Tyrone (Stephanie) Barton Jr., and her grandchildren:  Katy, Noah, & Victor Ahmed, and Tytus & Ezra Barton.  She is also survived by her sister, Judy (Arnold) Adamski in Omaha, NE and a number of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

No formal services will be held, but the family would be blessed if you would share a memory you have of Linda, or a verse of encouragement. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Downtown Rescue Mission in Huntsville.
