Betty Ray Marks, 78, of Athens, Alabama passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side on October 13, 2020.

Ms. Marks, born December 1941 in Athens, Tennessee to Henry and Helen Ray, retired from Athens State University in 2010 after more than 30 years of service. She was a longtime member and Sunday School teacher at Decatur Baptist Church as well as a volunteer at Clearview Cancer Center and was widely known for her servant’s heart and love for Jesus.

She is survived by her four children, son, Larry J. Marks Jr. and his wife Sharon, daughter, Betsy Ray and her husband Chris, daughter, Whitney Gallaway and her husband Justin, and daughter, Helen Crider and her husband Chase; seven grandchildren, Shelby Marks, Dylan Ray, Landon Ray, Connor Ray, Corbin Stueve, Colt Gallaway, and Jordyn Gallaway; two great grandchildren, Christian and Elizabeth Ray.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry J. Marks, Sr. and her parents.

At her request, a private graveside service will be held for family only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to her grandson’s charity, Colt’s Closet. www.newcovenantmb.com
