Moulton Man Charged With Manslaughter In Friday Morning Shooting

MOULTON-On Friday, October 9 a shooting occurred at a residence on County Road 188 in Moulton.  When officers arrived they found KC Lynn Hatfield seriously injured with a gunshot wound to the head.  Hatfield was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital where she later died.

Jeffrey Dylan Spillers, 23 of Moulton was charged with manslaughter, a Class B Felony, on Monday, October 12 in the shooting of Hatfield.  He was also charged with  chemical endangerment of a child, reckless endangerment, possession of drug paraphernalia and second-degree possession of marijuana. 

Authorities were called to the Hatfield residence around 12:25 Friday morning at that time investigators say Spillers was known as the shooter but no charges were filed.

Spillers was charged on Monday according to investigation after more information and evidence was gathered from the scene of the shooting.  According to Chief Deputy Tim Sandlin no other information regarding the shooting could be released as of Monday afternoon as investigation into the incident continues.  The Alabama Bureau of Investigation also has been assisting with this investigation.

Spillers has ben remanded to the Lawrence County Jail with a bond of $63,000.
