Evelyn Bernice Sweeney, 81, died Sunday, October 11, 2020 at her residence. She was born in Erin, TN to Will and Mary Flick Finch and worked in the deli at Publix Supermarket for fifteen years.
Services will be Thursday, October 15, 1 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Bro. Donnie Riley and Franklin Sweeney officiating. Burial will be in Dennis Memory Garden, Dennis, MS. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by two daughters – Mary Evelyn Sweeney Diehl (Robert Alan) and Martha Diane Diehl (Daryl R.); two sons -Bernice Holmes Sweeney III (Lisa) and Franklin Daune Sweeney (Jacqueline); two sons/grandsons – William Junior Sweeney and Bernice Holmes Sweeney (Stacy); nine grandchildren – Michael Alexander Harland (Selina), Trudy Melissa Liadacker (Josh), Robert Alan Diehl, Jr., Daryl Richard Diehl, Jr. (Renee), April Pounders, Shondra Gail Sweeney, Nikki Kennedy (Kevin), Lynne Carranza (Anthony) and Tonya Alonso; great-grandchildren – Savannah, Benjamin, Clayton, Devin, Bryan, Molly, Richard, Emilee, Gracie, Sara, Zachary, Jacob, Randy, Mackenzie, Ariana, Anthony, Jr., Michael Angel, Sophia, Joshua, Aaron, Noah, Melissa and Clarissa and one sister, Irene Brown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernice Holmes Sweeney, II and a grandson, Michael Brian Clement.
Pallbearers will be Benny Sweeney, William Sweeney, Bernie Sweeney, Michael Harland, Daryl Diehl, Franklin Sweeney and John Brown.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 13 and Wednesday, October 14, 5-8 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL.
