Marlon Ray Guthrie Marlon Ray Guthrie passed away 6 October 2020 of complications due to agent orange from his time serving in Vietnam with the United States Army.

The funeral service will be Sunday, 11 October 2020, at 3:00 p.m., at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Haleyville, with burial in Sardis #1 Cemetery, Lynn, AL. Officiating will be Bro. Steve Miles, The family will receive friends in the chapel at Pinkard Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Marlon was the son of the late Harrison Edward and Leona Miles Guthrie. He was born 20 February 1947 in Haleyville, Alabama. He was the brother to Garland (Marie), Wayne Edward (Patricia), Ann Jackson (the late Morgan Jackson), Brenda Matthews (Junior “Scooty”), and Danny (Beverly) Guthrie.

Marlon was a successful business owner in Georgia for 23 years before retiring in 2009. His most prized accomplishment was his children, Ronnie (Mandy) Taylor, Suzanne (Wade) Head, David (Tonya), the late Amy (Jason) Williams, Ben (Amanda) Webster, Lindsay (Steven) Tallent; and proud Papaw to Jessica (Jacob) Black, Jacob Taylor, Joshua Taylor, Maggie Davis Taylor, to the late Harlee Bass, Levi Guthrie, Amanda (Jarrett) Hovater, Matthew Stephens, Tyson Williams, Rocky and Jackson Webster, and Molly and Murphy Tallent. He was also a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Marlon was married to Cindy Whitman Guthrie, of the late Virgil and Reba Whitman. They were blessed to spend over 30 wonderful years together.

Marlon loved living on his and Cindy’s little farm raising pigs, chickens and cows. His favorite hobbies were bossing his brothers and sisters and rescuing dogs & cats. He loved history especially learning about the Civil War and Native American culture. He loved traveling and seeing the country he loved.
