FLORENCE– Officials with the University of North Alabama and Bahamas Baptist Community College (BBCC) in Nassau, The Bahamas, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will benefit all graduates from the BBCC seeking to complete their bachelor’s and master’s degrees at UNA through its online and on-campus course offerings.

“The collaboration between BBCC and UNA creates opportunities for graduates of various majors,” said Dr. Juliett Reid, BBCC President. “We are honored to have an association with a leader in the higher education sector.”

BBCC is a tertiary level institution that is approved by the National Accreditation and Equivalency Council of The Bahamas (NAECOB) to offer Bachelor degrees, Associate degrees and Certificates across the various academic divisions of Business and Administrative Studies, Humanities, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences. The College continues to maintain a College Preparatory Programme as well, which is widely embraced by students who do not possess the full prerequisites to pursue college level studies.

“UNA is honored and pleased to forge this agreement with BBCC, and I commend Dr. Reid for her leadership and collaboration,” said Dr. Ross Alexander, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. “This innovative compact to empower students to earn a UNA degree in several modalities is evidence of our commitment to partner with institutions of all types to meet the needs of students wherever they may be.”

UNA is home to more than 350 international students from more than 40 countries, including The Bahamas. Many international students choose UNA because of the quality and affordability of education, the housing and academic scholarships, and the welcoming and supportive environment.
