FLORENCE – How about some good news? With all this national turmoil; COVID; political stress… Well, it’s sometimes difficult to stay happy. So, when City Council Member Kaytrina Simmons called and invited The Quad-Cities Daily to come over to Florence resident, Mattie Waits’ 92nd Birthday Party, we jumped at the opportunity.
Ms. Mattie turned 92 on Wednesday, September 17. and on Saturday, the 19th there was a big party at she and her husband’s house. Now, with COVIID raging, the family had to make the party special so the family – all four generations of them held a drive-by celebration in her honor. It was so much fun and very heartwarming! Ms. Mattie’s friends from all over drove by her house, tooting their car and motorcycle horns and waving with shouts of “I love you!” , and “Happy Birthday!” And she just loved it! And so did we… Thanks, Kaytrina for letting us join in.
